Dr. Yanzi Xiao, preferring to go by Chrissie or Yanzi (whichever you find easier), is a professional translator and interpreter with nearly a decade of experience helping individuals and organizations to communicate effectively between English and Chinese.
Hailing from Guangdong, China, Chrissie is a native speaker of Teochew, Cantonese and Mandarin and is an effective interpreter between English and these dialects. She has interpreted for medical visitations, government delegations and countless academic lectures. Warm, friendly and highly professional, Chrissie is a pleasure to work with.
As a translator, Chrissie is highly experienced working with legal contracts in Australia, the US and China. She is also expert with financial, court, technical, medical and scientific/academic documents. We are equipped to handle advertizing and signage; the XYZ Translation team includes a graphic design artist.
Dr. Xiao holds a Master of Arts degree in English-Chinese translation and interpretation from the University of Queensland in Australia. Other degrees include an MS in Environmental Science from Sun Yat Sen University as well as a BS and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Hohai University and the University of Queensland, respectively.
Chrissie has taught, translated and interpreted between English and Chinese professionally since 2009. Her work experience includes a communications role with the United Nations in 2007 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Yanzi Chrissie Xiao is an avid watercolor artist as well as an aficionado of classical music. As a scientist, an engineer and an artist, her interests are nearly limitless. In her free time, she is a hiker and a rock climber.
